So You Think You Can Kilt?

Be honest, who’s picturing Cat Deeley?  Me, neither.  I’m lying.  I’m totally picturing her.

We are nigh on a month away from launching Kilted to Kick Cancer!  We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have partnered up with Magnum Boots and they have blessed us immensely.  We are in awe of the spirit of giving they are showing us at every turn.  Seriously.  These folks are amazing!

As you may know, we have been looking for a kilt sponsor for KTKC.  I am happy to announce that the Official Kilt of KTKC is AltKilt!  HM contacted AltKilt (on a Sunday, no less) and received a return email post haste from Jeanie.  Much like Magnum Boots, Jeanie was on board without hesitation.  To make it ever more fated, Jeanie mentioned that she and her team wear Magnum Boots. Kismet?  Methinks so. … Continue Reading

Kilted to Kick Cancer on Facebook

We’re making some great strides to September’s Kilted to Kick Cancer!  We’re happy to announce a Facebook page for KTKC.

We want to thank Magnum Boots again and we’re looking forward to taking the next step with them.  We really want to encourage you to continue to bombard Utilikilts with messages on Twitter, Facebook, and on their website.

I was personally as excited as a ten-year-old boy yesterday when I got a retweet from my favorite sports figure and the best quarterback Notre Dame has ever seen, Brady Quinn (@BQ9).  Brady broke in excess of 30 records during his tenure at Notre Dame…and he’s a great guy to boot.  I wouldn’t have named my daughter after him if he weren’t (middle name is Quinn…yea, I’m that guy).  If you’re on Twitter, drop him a thanks for helping KTKC.

We’ve compiled a list of folks we’re trying to enlist to help us bring awareness to #kiltedtokickcancer.  We’d love it if you’d assist us in reaching out as well!

Keep an eye on the KTKC Facebook page for exciting news about the month of September.  We’ve got more planned than just wearing kilts, kids!  You may be able to occupy the same space in time with us…I’ve already said too much.

For those of you that haven’t listened to Episode 15 of The Crossover Show yet (and just why not?!?), what follows is a bit of a spoiler!

Every October, we are happy to throw our support to strive for a cure to breast cancer.  Personally, I love the “Save the Ta-tas” T-shirts, but I digress.  Last year, our intrepid compatriot Happy Medic was contacted by a fellow EMS blogger, Epijunky, regarding a contribution to the Susan G. Komen walk on which she was embarking.  HM and a few other bloggers banded together, turned their blogs pink, and raised about $800 for her.

Not too long after, HM was contacted by another EMS blogger with some interesting (and all-too-often unknown) information.  Prostate and testicular cancers kill just as many men as breast cancer kills women.

You read that right.

To further drive the point home, our friend and EMS blogger, HybridMedic, has been publicly chronicling his battle with testicular cancer on his blog.  The man went to the doctor after some pain he was experiencing and was eventually told he had testicular cancer.  His response?  He manned up and in no time at all he was a testicle lighter. … Continue Reading
