Music Monday
As some of you may know, I’ve gotten quite a bit of inspiration from Jon Acuff (@jonacuff on Twitter). If you are unfamiliar with Jon, click over to his blog and check him out…after you’re done here. He doesn’t need the stat numbers like I do. ;-)
Jon writes two distinct blogs: Stuff Christians Like (SCL) and what I’ll call an Inspirational/Motivational blog. The former is a satirical look at Christianity today. If you are or know or heard about Christians, you’re missing out if you’re not reading Acuff. The latter blog is geared around his book Quitter. If you’ve not read it, again, you’re missing out. Quitter is about closing the gap between your day job and your dream job. Jon has taken that book and is starting to change thousands of lives.
My free ad for Jon notwithstanding, I found a feature he introduced earlier this month and I liked it so much, I figured I nick it. He calls his feature the “Saturday Song” and each Saturday during January, he has posted a song that has inspired him at some point in his life.
I figure imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so I’m introducing Music Monday. A clever twist and much manlier than Saturday Song according to my official poll results.*
I mean, c’mon, manly even starts with the same letters as both music and monday. I think we’re on solid footing here.
At any rate, this past week I was very proud of the Wife as she guest-posted over at one of her favorite sites, The Frugal Find. She saw some numbers on her blog straight destroy previous highs. She has been reinvigorated and it has been a pleasure to watch her take her blog, My Daily Bread Crumbs, more seriously and begin to understand the reach she can have and the folks she can help. She has more than earned her own link on the sidebar of the blog (…And Meet the Wife). If you’d be so kind as to stop by and say hello?
So, on this, the inaugural Music Monday post, I present to you the greatest song ever recorded. Why? Because it’s our song. It’s so good, in fact, that I used the chorus as my wedding vow. Chris Carrabba is a lyrical genius.
Without further ado, Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional:
So, tell me. What’s your song?
*I took no such poll, but will often use false braggadocio to entice readers into my twisted web of lies.

Good blurb, sir. Nice song. If I have to be all mushy and honest it would be The Way You Look Tonight – Elton John (also for matrimonial reasons).
HOWEVER… now that that’s out of the way… for some gut-busters, here are just a few:
Rodney Carrington – Show Them To Me
(not sure about the original artist) – I’m My Own Grandpa
And you have to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTTwcCVajAc
to understand this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP4NMoJcFd4
Ok, that’s enough for 6am.
<3.
Ummm, does it have to be inspirational?
If so, “Thank U” by Alanis Morissette. (not the “official” video):

If not, heh-heh, here’s a present for ya:

Well, I wasn’t gonna post anything since you and your readers probably wouldn’t care for “Da Butt” by EU. Nevertheless, that song does put my backfield in motion.
At any rate, here is a great song from Hawai‘i with lyrics and translate that you guys surely will find enjoyable and inspirational –

and it performed live for The Merrie Monarch Hula Festival
